Medina breaks ground on US$100M project Downtown Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina broke ground Friday for the construction of the tourism project Downtown Punta Cana, to be built at a cost of around of US$100 million.
The project located on Veron-Punta Cana highway will be built on 150,000 square meters and create around 1,000 direct jobs.
The facilities will feature areas for corporate offices, shopping, entertainment, an artificial lake, residences and culture, designed to attract and accommodate the large number of tourists who visit the region.
Medina arrived at 10:30am accompanied by the ministers of Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo and of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia.
La Altagracia Diocese bishop Nicanor Peña blessed the project, whose details were provided by its developers Francis Luis Moreno and Miguel Ricart.
