“Matured” tourism destination sets marketing DATE

Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic has already “matured” as a tourism destination, according to Hotels and Tourism Association (Asonahores) spokesman Arturo Villanueva, who on Thursday announced the 12th Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2013).

Asonahores president Luis Emilio Rodriguez said the event slated from April 23 to 25 at Barceló Bavaro Beach Resort aims to draw more than 100 international tour operators and the country’s sector- related businesses.

The idea, Rodriguez said at a press conference, is to tout the Dominican tourism product, while Asonahores marketing director Thelma Martinez calls the activity an opportunity to show what’s new in the holiday market.
