Literacy Plan tops 302,000
Santo Domingo. – As of Monday the National Literacy Plan reached 302,315 beneficiaries, beating the first partial target of teaching 300,140 adults to read and write by July 31.
The National Literacy Plan shows that by July 15, 23,255 study groups were formed and 25,060 kits of learning and educational materials distributed nationwide.
Santo Domingo provinces had the Plan’s highest number with 50,776; Santiago 28,948, the National District with 18,761, San Cristobal with 16,398 and La Vega with 14,584.
Among the regions with the lowest number of people figure Santiago Rodríguez with 2,818; Pedernales, 2,711; Dajabón, 2,619; and San José de Ocoa, 3,332.
According to the Plan, more than 30,000 people have completed their basic literacy, and as this month conclude their group studies in the basic program that began in January.
