Industries support a 14% wage increase
Santo Domingo. – The Herrera and Santo Domingo Province Industries Association on Sunday called on employers to relax their position on the wage increase for workers, to bring it to a level which in their view covers the inflation accumulated since 2011.
“We as entrepreneurs must understand that Dominican workers deserve a raise in accordance with what inflation has been in the last two years, so that the worker’s purchasing power can return to at least 2011 levels,” said Industries president Victor Castro.
The business leader supports an increase of around 14%, assuming that the accumulated inflation from January 2011 to February 2013 was 13.75%, according to the Central Bank’s figures.
