Santo Domingo.- India’s exquisite cuisine comes to Santo Domingo with the opening of the annual India Food Festival, to the delight of Dominican gourmets.
Speaking at the event’s launch, India Ambassador Rajasekhar noted the recent upswing in his country’s activities in Dominican Republic, stressing among others, the business meeting held in June with the participation of a delegation of Indian entrepreneurs, including India’s EximBank chief for the Americas and the celebration for the first time in Santo Domingo of India Independence Day in August.
“All this reflects India’s great desire to strengthen and widen the ties of friendship and cooperation with the Dominican Republic in all spheres,” Rajasekhar said in a statement.
The diplomat also announced the Business Conclave with Latin America and the Caribbean slated for New Delhi in December, to which Dominican entrepreneurs have been invited, including a delegation headed by Import and Investment Center (CEI-RD) director Jean-Alain Rodriguez, “an event aimed at expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.”
Cuisine for the heart
“The way to the heart is through the stomach,” India’s Ambassador quipped to showcase the Festival and said he expects to spur more friendship and Dominican admirers of India.
Rajasekhar said India’s unrivaled myriad cuisine reflects its rich and diverse culinary heritage. “It’s an expertise of striking the balance between form and function, between taste and nutritional value,” he said, guaranteeing that the dishes prepared for the Festival will titillate Dominicans’ palate.
