Haiti-Dominican border crossing reopens on pact with truckers
Dajabón, Dominican Republic.- Transport resumed Wednesday when Haiti and Dominican Republic authorities reopened the border crossing between Ouanaminthe and Dajabon, after reaching an agreement with the Fenatrado truckers union to return their members’ vehicles retained in the neighboring country for more than one year.
Cross border business is expected to resume immediately on pledges by senior officials of Cap Haitien and Ouanaminthe to return three retained tractor trailers.
Two of the trucks are in Juana Méndez and one in Cap-Haïtien, owned by Norly Noe Jiménez, detained since Sunday after a car accident in that city.
