Government reopens civil registry offices abroad
The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has announced the reopening of civil registry offices in New York, Boston, Miami, Puerto Rico and Madrid. JCE judge Rosario Graciano de los Santos was in New York last week to make the announcement. She said this was a start and other offices would be opened in other cities in the US, Europe and some Caribbean islands in time to provide services to Dominican residents overseas interested in voting in the 2016 election. She said the offices could also help the children of Dominicans abroad to obtain their Dominican nationality and thus become eligible to vote in the 2016 election.
