Government 2014 budget of US$14.8M is US$1.0B more than 2013
Santo Domingo.- The government on Wednesday announced the 2014 budget will total RD$605.7 billion (US$14.8 billion) , or RD$46 billion more than 2013, and said the draft will be sent to Congress on Monday.
In a press conference after a National Palace meeting headed by president Danilo Medina, Economy minister Temistocles Montas said the piece was drafted based on an expected economic growth of 4.5%, or RD$61.6 billion.
He said also taken into account were a 4.5% inflation rate and 44.4 pesos per dollar.
Among the agencies with increased allocation figure the Education and Public Health ministries, the State-owned Electric Utility (CDEEE), the government pensions and Social Security, the bus services (OMSA) and the Judicial Branch.
