Excellent Jazz in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone
Every Thursday during the month of December the evenings in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone, a Cultural Patrimony of Humanity, will be filled with the sounds of excellent jazz.
The Colonial Sounds by Jazz will present four concerts, featuring top Dominican musicians.
The concerts will take place in “El Conde” Street, one of the oldest streets in the New World.
“Jazz Nights in the Zone” concerts will be held every Thursday at 8:00 p.m., free of charge. The jazz bands scheduled to play are Josean Jacobo & Tumbao, Carlito Estrada Quartet, Joshy & 4 Jazz and the Jordi Masalles Quartet.
Another important jazz event, the Santo Domingo Jazz Festival, takes place every summer in “Casa de Teatro,” one of the Zone’s most important cultural centers.
The city’s Colonial Zone is situated some 30 minutes from Las Americas International Airport and five minutes from Santo Domingo’s “Malecon,” the scenic seaside boulevard where most of the city’s most important hotels are situated.
