Election of Miss Costa Norte 2013

Saturday November 16 the election of Miss Costa Norte 2013 was held in the restaurant of the Hotel El Colibri in Sosúa in the Pedro Clisante street. This year also men could compete for the title of Mister Costa Norte, which was a surprise. The organization of the event was in the hands of Sosúa Online.net and Cachicha.com. There were thirteen lady participants and five men from Sabaneta, Cabarete, Charamicos, Los Castillos, La Unión, Montellano and Puerto Plata. For weeks in advance the ladies had been rehearsing dances, speeches and walk like a model. At half past seven the first guests showed up and at half past nine, there were about 150 visitors, despite the heavy rains.
Among the visitors, of course, many family members of the candidates were present. At 10 the program started. The professional jury consisted of former Miss Costa Norte winners of previous years, supplemented by celebrities from politics and the TV world. The ladies had to do a varied program. The men had a shorter program, but they did provoke a lot of laughs. Of course the ladies had to appear in evening dress and swimwear for the enthusiastic audience and jury but every participant also came with her own little show in the form of folk dance, harem dance or hip hop dance. Next, the participants held a short speech in which they set out their expectations for the near future. So the jury not only judged the appearance of the candidates, but also other features of the candidates. Around midnight the jury, after long deliberations, decided who the winner was. And it was Yillian Navilet Ortega. She received a sum of 10,000 pesos and was awarded contracts for further appearances. She will, in the near future, represent the North Coast as a special ambassador. Eruin Acosta finally was elected Mister Costa Norte.
