Dominicans to be taught more about the environment
The Ministry of the Environment has announced that during the next 30 days it will be carrying out a series of special environmental events to motivate Dominicans to be more aware of the importance of caring for environment and natural resources.
Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez said that work would intensify to reforest coastal areas. He announced that during the first two weeks of September, a program to certify dozens of refrigeration technicians on how to manage refrigerator gas properly would take place, coinciding with International Ozone Layer Protection Day. He announced the forthcoming “A Healthy Atmosphere is the Future We Want Day” at the Mirador del Norte Park in Santo Domingo, with the distribution of 200 kites to participating children.
On 23 September, beach clean up day will be celebrated. For the rest of the year the Ministry will continue with its usual reforestation, garbage cleanup, noise reduction and educational programs.
