Dominican exports to Haiti represent 14.2%
Santo Domingo.– At the end of 2012, the Dominican Republic topped US$9,079.1 million, of which only the Haitian market represented 14.28%, among the 19 main economic export partners of that year.
This figure reveals, in part, the commercial importance of Haiti to Dominican Republic. However, the same report published by the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) stressed that the United States ranks first for Dominican exports.
The Dominican Republic exported US$1,134.71 million to Haiti in 2012 and US$3,501.25 million to the United States in the same period, representing more than triple.
Exporters Association (Adoexpo) president Kai Schoenhals on Friday told Diariolibre.com that initiatives such as the “4 December Collective” call to boycott Dominican commerce on Haitian soil are temporary and cannot affect long term business relations between the two countries.
