Central province gets US$187.0M boost for roads

San Francisco, Dom. Rep.- The Government will spend around RD$5.8 billion (US$187 million) in infrastructure, services, roads and highways in central Duarte Province, to meet the demands of numerous organizations and community groups.

State Works Supervisory Office (OISOE) director Miguel Pimentel the RD$700.0 million reconstruction of the San Francisco-Nagua highway will start Monday morning, noting that it will bolster the region’s development and tourism.

Speaking in a meeting at the Governor’s Office with representatives of community organizations and barrio groups, the official also announced the construction of the San Francisco- Rio San Juan road at a cost of RD$1.2 billion.

He said president Danilo Medina ordered the construction of more than 20 essential works to improve the lives of all Duarte Province residents, especially San Francisco, to promote growth and sustainable development.
