Central Bank announces a new 200 peso bill from September 16, 2013
PUERTO PLATA. – Through a press release sent to the www.puertoplatadigital.com the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic announced that bills of RD $ 200 experience changes starting from Monday September, 16th. The bill will now read “pesos dominicanos” or Dominican pesos instead of “pesos oro” or gold pesos. The old bill will still be valid and will circulate alongside the new bill.
It is emphasized that “this change is made in compliance with Article 229 of the Constitution, promulgated on January 26, 2010, indicating that the national currency is the Dominican Peso and is covered by the provisions contained in Article 25 , paragraph c, of the Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02, of November 21, 2002″.
