Brugal rum wins Exporter Association’s top prize
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s biggest rum distiller on Wednesday took the Dominican Exporter Association’s (ADOEXPO) Export Excellence award, Brugal’s second to prize in just 7 sever years.
The business association’s top awards, handed out during the Dominican Exporter’s 27th annual gala at the Jaragua Hotel, seek to recognize export companies’ performance and provide an opportunity to bring business leaders closer together to benefit the various industries.
In the keynote speech, ADOEXPO president Kai P. Schoenhals said national industries “have become world-class exporters” and urged business to diversify their markets.
Brugal & Co., recently acquired a distillery group based in the UK for around US$2.0 billion, is the country’s top rum and specialty liquors brand, with a current presence in more than 70 countries.
Among the winners by category figure Dominican Tropical Fruits, in the Agro Sector; Seaboard Dominicana, for Export Services; Cortés Hermanos as Industrial Exporter, and Cardinal Health, for Export Free Zones.
