Altice gets a 88% stake in the country’s 2nd biggest telecom
Santo Domingo.- Luxembourg-based Group Altice VII on Monday confirmed that its subsidiary Altice Caribe will acquire an 88% stake in the telecoms Tricom SA and Global Interlink Ltd.
In a statement on its website, Altice said the acquisition bolsters the assets it already owns in the Caribbean. “The acquisition is subject to approval by the Dominican regulator, Indotel (Dominican Telecommunications Institute).”
According to the announcement, Altice plans to continue developing the TV cable and broadband Internet businesses through the quadruple play platform (Triple Play Plus) and start expanding the company’s current mobile operations.
TRICOM is the country’s second biggest telecom service provider, after Claro (America Mobil).
