Yearly warning to ‘mañana’ minds: Renew car tag or risk the tow truck
Santo Domingo.- The Metropolitan Transit Authority’s (Amet) yearly warning came Monday for the estimated 25% of the motorists who’ve yet to renew their license plate stickers.
Amet director major general Juan Geronimo Brown said around 75% of vehicle owners have renewed their vehicle plates for 2012, but warned that once expired, traffic cops will impound those automobiles. “When the deadline’s up, Amet will immediately proceed according to the law, to retain the vehicle.”
The Internal Taxes Agency (DGII) began to renew motor vehicle tag stickers August 29, but the period will expire November 30, after which motorists will have to pay a 600 peso surcharge.
