US$59.0M resort project (Puerto Plata) heralds icon resort region’s reawakening
Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina met yesterday with business leaders at Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata, to keep abreast of the area and headed groundbreaking to build the Blue Jack Tar resort complex.
The hotel project, to be built at a cost of RD$2.4 billion (US$59.0 million), will have 75 rooms, sports facilities and children’s area, 120 ocean-view apartments, restaurants and shopping areas; 12 areas for villa s and a boutique hotel .
The project is being developed by the families Imbert- Brugal, Morales-Tio, Brugal-Gomez and Caceres-Silverio, whose members stated their confidence in the area’s tourism future and thanked Medina for his Administration’s support.
“A new project is born: Blue Jack Tar, the vision of a group of Dominican entrepreneurs, primarily Puerto Plata, who strongly believe in the development of this area that offers everything in one place,” said Juan A. Morales Tio, one of the partners, who spoke on behalf of the investors.
