Traffic laws change for Christmas and New Year
The Director General of Traffic from the Ministry of Public Works, Luis Estrella has announced that, as in previous years and according to the law, a series of preventative measures would be taken to prevent accidents during the holiday period, including a ban on heavy vehicles from the roads.
These restrictions will apply from Monday 24 December at noon until Tuesday 25 at 10 pm, and from Monday 31 December at noon until Tuesday 1 January 2013 at 10 pm.
Only vehicles transporting fuel and perishable foods will be allowed on the roads, providing they hold the required permits.
He called on all drivers and motorcycle riders to drive carefully over Christmas and New Year, a period when there are almost always accidents resulting in loss of life and property.
