Supermarket chain covers shoppers’ ITBIS
Santo Domingo.- The Bravo supermarket chain will cover the ITBIS (sales tax) payments on the basic family basket products during January, announced VP Rafael Monestina.
He said that prices would not be affected in January and that they would also cover the cost of the new tax on products that were previously exempt but that will now be subject to 8%, as well as the increase from 16 to 18%.
He said that after the fiscal reform was approved the company started working on measures and save between 15 and 20 million pesos, through support from their suppliers.
He said that the achievement was thanks to efficiency in the distribution chain and their operations, as well as reducing advertising costs, among other measures.
He also assured customers that they are working towards extending the measure for a longer period.
