Sixth Edition of Cigar Festival; scheduled for February 2013
The sixth edition of the Dominican Cigar Festival, also known as the “Procigar Festival,” will be held from February 17-22, 2013, in Casa de Campo, one of the Caribbean’s premier resorts.
The first part of the program will take place from February 17-19 in the city of La Romana, on the country’s eastern region.
The festival will be held in Casa de Campo, known the world over for its incredible golf courses.
The second half of the Festival will be held in the city of Santiago, the country’s second largest city, also known as the Cigar Capital of the Caribbean.
Events in Santiago will be held at the “Hotel Gran Almirante.” Visitors from the United States and Europe generously participate in the festival.

The organizers have scheduled a golf tournament at the world famous Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo, one of the Caribbean’s most important resorts.
Visitors will also enjoy the beautiful surrounding tropical beaches as well as participate in a tour to the “Tabacalera Garcia,” one of the region’s most important cigar factories.
In Santiago, the country’s second largest city, the program will include visits to the most important cigar companies in the region, such as General Cigar, Davidoff, Matasa, “La Aurora.”
The program also includes a tour of the Brugal rum factory, considered by many to be one of the world’s finest rums.
Other activities include seminars on the subject matter, a sailing tour of the North Coast and, for the most adventuresome, the possibility of practicing extreme sports.
The Dominican Republic is a world leader in the production of handmade cigars.
Santiago, also known as the Cigar Capital of the Caribbean, is the center of Dominican tobacco culture. Some of the world’s most recognized cigar brands are made there.
