Public Works says its cross-mountain highway trace is better
Santo Domingo.- The Public Works Ministry yesterday said the North-South cross mountain highway will link the towns Juan Adrián, La Peñita, Rancho Arriva, Nizao, Sabana Larga, San José de Ocoa, El Limon and Los Ranchitos to Cruce de Ocoa, from the Duarte to the Sanchez highways.
The statement comes two after San Juan de la Maguana Diocese Jose Dolores Grullon argued for a more westerly route, citing shorter distances from north to south.
Public Works said the 85 kilometer route, designed for speeds for of up to 60 KPH, will spur trade between the south to north regions, of great interest for the economies of the Cibao and the South.
It said the highway was prioritized to spur both regions’ development, since agribusinesses will be able to market and distribute their products faster and with less transport expenses.
