Orange Dominicana launches the country’s first LTE 4G network

Santo Domingo.- Orange Dominicana vice president for marketing Jerome Poulain yesterday announced the launch of Dominican Republic’s first LTE 4G network, the latest generation in mobile technology.

“Twelve years after having provided Dominicans with the first GSM network, today we announce the arrival of the first 4G LTE network in the Dominican Republic,” the executive said.

Orange VP for communications Eduardo Valcárcel said Orange is proud that the country is among the first in Latin America and those of the entire France Telecom Group to have deployed the 4G LTE. “We’ll be sharing all the details at a press conference on Monday, July 9.”

Quoted by, the executive said the 4G LTE technology now available in Santo Domingo surpasses all current mobile networks, and features internet browsing speeds up to 100 Mbps. “We invested more than US$150 million to double our network and provide the best and latest in mobile technology to all Dominicans in an accessible manner.”

Poulain and Varcarcel affirmed the Internet of the future is in already in the country, where customers can expect a unique experience with unprecedented speeds and features.
