Medina says his job isn’t to prosecute corruption

Santo Domingo.-  President Danilo Medina reiterated his commitment to “ethics in government ” and noted that his job isn’t to prosecute corruption, because there’s a clear separation of powers.

“That doesn’t pertain to me, for me there’s a separation of powers,” the President said when asked if he’ll alow a “clean slate” regarding corruption in past administrations.

Medina, interviewed on the popular morning radio program, “El sol de la mañana,” also announced negotiations with the Colombian Government to fund a percentage of the oil bill for the electricity sector, the National Police reform and to improve the 911 emergency calling system.

He said Colombian officials will come the country to continue the negotiations.

Medina, who returns from New York City Wednesday afternoon,  said his administration works with the United States on the war on drugs and obtains its aid, while the Dominican government provides full cooperation.
