JetBlue Will Fly from New York to breathtaking bay of Samana
The US-based JetBlue airline will begin flying on Wednesdays and Saturdays from New York City to Samana, on the country’s northeast corner, beginning November 14. This will be the sixth Dominican airport receiving direct JetBlue flights from the United States.
Flights to one of the most beautiful and prosperous of the country’s tourism regions will leave John F. Kennedy Airport. Flights will leave NYC on an Airbus A320 aircraft, at 8:25 a.m. and will reach the “El Catey” International Airport at 1:05 p.m.
On Saturdays, flights are scheduled to leave NYC at 2:00 p.m., and arrive in Samaná at 4:50 p.m.
Currently JetBlue flights from the United States into the following Dominican airports: La Romana and Punta Cana (eastern region); Puerto Plata and Samana (on the north coast); Santiago (central region); and Santo Domingo, the capital city.
“Samaná is one of the Dominican Republic’s best kept secrets, and has tremendous potential due to its breathtaking scenery, which is made up of impressive tropical forests and some of the country’s finest beaches.
We think that when it is discovered this tropical paradise will be a nice surprise for our clients,” said John Checketts, director of planning routes for the airlines.
Currently, Samana offers visitors 3,400 rooms (distributed through apartments, villas and rooms) to the tourism sector. Of these, 1,200 are hotel rooms in all-inclusive resorts.
Many tourists also visit the impressive “Haitises” National Park, or travel to the region during the first three months of the year in order to see the humpback whales in their natural habitat, in the coastal waters of Samaná.
One of Samana’s most important features is that most of the region’s hotels are small and quaint. The whales come to the warm waters in order to mate and bear their young.
The Bay of Samana is included in the privileged list of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World.
