Dominican Republic seeks to end illiteracy by 2014
Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Monday launched the National Literacy Plan, whose main objective is for UNESCO to declare Dominican Republic ” illiteracy-free territory” on Sept. 8, 2014.
Medina proposed the plan “Quisqueya learns with you”?? two years ago, affirmed Presidency Chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo.In his speech the chief executive said justice is the foundation of peace and to alphabetize is justice.
He said literacy is a way to contribute to equality, inclusion and thus to world peace.
