Dominican capital kicks off a robust cruise season
Santo Domingo.- With four additional cruise lines to boost the number of passengers and a novel program for college interns, Santo Domingo’s San Souci Port kicked off the 2012-2013 cruise season on Friday, with the arrival of the Aida Aura.
MSC Cruise Lines, Voyager of Discovery, Passat Kreuzfahrten and Sea Dream Yacht Club are the new cruise lines scheduled for arrival at the Port of Santo Domingo.
The port calls expand the number of lines and ships using Sansouci as their home and transit port, which doubles the number of cruise passengers who’ll visit Santo Domingo through the modern terminal.
Nearly 1,600 cruise passengers arrived aboard the Aida Aura and the same company will bring some 2,500 tourists again next week to Santo Domingo on the Aida Luna.
The MSC cruise ship Lirica will make port calls at La Romana, St. Maarten, Martinique, Guadalupe, Antigua & Barbuda and the British Virgin Islands, during the season’s 10 cruises Starting December 19.
