Construction begins on new resort complex in Puerto Plata
Construction was recently begun on The Blue Jack Tar, a new resort being built in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata’s oldest tourism complex.
The new structure will replace the Jack Tar Hotel, the first resort to open in the Dominican Republic back in 1979.
The new facility offers 120 apartments, twelve villas, a 70-room boutique hotel – all with beautiful sea views – and an additional 75 rooms from what was once the original Jack Tar Hotel.
The complex will also feature restaurants, shopping areas, sports facilities and a children’s area, among other facilities.
All together, the project components are: the Jack Tar Hotel Boutique, the Jack Gallery, Jack Estates, the Blue JackTar Condos, Jack Sports and Mini Jack, “where each product is designed to integrate the needs of the family when it comes to rest and relaxation, vacation, fun, gastronomy, all topped with an excellent climate of security.”
The Blue JackTar apartments will occupy a seven-story building. All apartments and villas will be included in a rental pool program which will be professionally marketed.
There are currently 75 rooms available in the old Jack Tar hotel. Its popular restaurant, the “Green Jack,” offers visitors a menu packed with international and Dominican fusion dishes.
