Civil Aviation implements new flight plan system
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) on Thursday confirmed the launch of the New Flight Plan Format, as required by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) worldwide.
IDAC is the local agency in charge of the managing the Air Navigation Services Provision, to comply with the planning outlined by the ICAO.
Through the flight plan aircraft operators notify the air traffic controllers of the pilot’s intent to conduct an air operation, and provides all the details required to provide Air Traffic Control services.
The flight operations plan includes new requirements and details of the aircraft, its crew and operators, technologies, communication system and other facilities that have been in the air navigation that hadn’t been included in the technological development.
“With technological advances in surveillance and navigation systems, and the use of automated systems in the aircraft, equipment aboard the aircraft and crew capabilities have been modernized, so that it reflects the need to expand the details of the information provided for the use of Air Navigation Services,” said the IDAC in a statement to the media
