Apartment and scholarship for Yamilet Peña
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Olympic Committee president Luisín Mejía confirmed yesterday that gymnast Yamilet Peña will receive an apartment from the government in recognition for her contribution to Dominican sport.
Peña, who achieved sixth place at the London Olympics, will be given the deeds to her apartment at a ceremony this morning at the National Housing Institute (INVI) headquarters on Alma Mater avenue in Santo Domingo.
Peña was admitted to the National Police sport corps by order of president Leonel Fernández. The gymnast will also receive a scholarship for her university studies from the Police Social Security Institute (ISSPOL).
