7,000 college students complete intensive English course
Santo Domingo.- An unprecedented 7,000 college students who completed the Higher Education Ministry’s English Immersion for Competitiveness Program graduated on Saturday, and now total 38,972 since the effort began.
Vice president Margarita Cedeño, who led the commencement ceremony, told the graduates that it was a great step in their life, for achieving a tool will open many doors to masters’ degrees abroad and internationalize their knowledge.
Higher Education minister Ligia A. Melo announced 200 of the graduates will be given the opportunity to perfect their English at Utah State University in 2013, and that they expect to graduate 13,000 in 2013.
Speaking in the Dominican capital’s Duarte Olympic Center, the official noted that a November 2010 survey found that most of the graduates of those programs were abloe to get higher paying jobs.
