The dollar inches higher on the peso
SANTO DOMINGO.- The exchange rate has begun climbing in the last few weeks with on dollar already costing more than 38 pesos in banks, a climb expected to dent consumers’ wallets, as commerce will have to pay more for imported items.
Yesterday most banks paid the RD$37.80 for the American currency and sold it between RD$38 and RD$38.15 per dollar. By the end of January the average was RD$37.44 to purchase and sold it for RD$37.53, according to Central Bank statistics.
