Deputies approve US$471.9M loan for roads nationwide
Santo Domingo.- The Chamber of Deputies approved Wednesday a US$471.9 million loan for the pay for the design, construction and maintenance of the roadway project VIADOM, after hearing the Treasury Commission’s report.
The Viadom project’s contract is based on toll collections, and was signed by Public Works minister Victor Diaz, and Armín Ricardo Garcia for Davicon, the company that was awarded the contract.
Chamber of Deputies Treasury Commission president Marino Collante said the works include the reconstruction of the Duarte Highway, two bypass routes, around Santiago and Puerto Plata, and the construction of a tunnel in the latter province.
The contract also stipulates road maintenance and the construction that would lower the risk for motorists.
Ricardo Contreras, of the Chamber Public Works Commission agreed with Collante, and noted that his commission hasn’t rendered a report.
