All fuels to cost more, except propane gas
Santo Domingo.- The Industry and Commerce Ministry posted the fuel prices in effect from October 15 to 22, when premium gasoline will cost RD$223.40 per gallon, a jump of RD$2.60; regular goes to RD$208.00, or RD$2.80 more; regular diesel will cost RD$186.20, and premium type will cost RD$192.80, or RD$2.20 more on both.
Propane gas remains unchanged at RD$107.60 the gallon; natural gas goes to RD$23.14 per cubic meter, or RD$0.01 higher; avtur will cost RD$150.92 per gallon or RD$1.19 more; kerosene goes to RD$175.80, for an increase of RD$0.70 per gallon, while fuel oil will cost RD$133.77 for a RD$2.02 jump
Industry and Commerce said the Central Bank’s average exchange rate of RD$38.41 per dollar was used in the price calculation.
FILE.- Industry and Commerce minister Manuel Garcia on Friday announced higher fuel prices as much as RD$3 per gallon starting Saturday, citing petroleum’s increase in the global market.
The official said financial speculation led to the increase in crude, and that he regrets having to notify the jump, after their decline during five consecutive weeks.
Garcia, speaking in the Renewable Energies Forum of Dominican Republic’s Energy Efficiency Initiative, said the population can expect lower pump prices in the next few weeks.
